Dr. Steslow offers ear lobe repair surgery to address issues such as torn, stretched, or damaged earlobes. Common causes include heavy earrings, accidental trauma, or intentional stretching (gauging). This procedure can restore the natural appearance of the ear and is performed in-office with local anesthesia.

Procedure Overview

Complimentary Evaluation Before scheduling the procedure, Dr. Steslow provides a free evaluation. During this consultation, he will:

  • Discuss your goals and expectations
  • Explain the procedure in detai
  • Outline the healing process and post-operative care instructions
  • Review nutritional practices that support optimal healing

How it works

  • In-Office Surgery: The procedure is performed in Dr. Steslow’s office using local anesthesia. Patients can typically drive themselves to and from the appointment and resume normal activities the following day
  • Surgical Technique: Small incisions are made to remove damaged tissue. The earlobe is then carefully reconstructed using fine sutures for minimal scarring
  • Recovery and Follow-Up: Patients return for follow-up visits at one and two weeks for suture removal and to monitor healing. Re-piercing can safely be done after three months, avoiding the area of the previous scar

Pricing

  • Standard Repair (One Earlobe): Starting at $500
  • Gauged or Major Repairs: Starting at $700

For optimal healing, Dr. Steslow often recommends repairing one ear lobe at a time. This allows for focused attention and reduces the risk of complications.

Risks and Complications

  • Infection: Rare but possible; proper wound care minimizes this risk
  • Scarring: Minimal scarring is expected and typically fades over time
  • Recurrence: Avoid heavy earrings after healing to prevent re-tearing

Post-Surgery Tips

  • Keep the area clean and dry
  • Follow Dr. Steslow’s wound care instructions carefully
  • Avoid pulling or touching the ear
